Dr Adrian Clear

Adrian Clear is Vice Chancellor’s Senior Research Fellow in Digital Living in the Department of Computer and Information Sciences at Northumbria University. His primary research area is Human-Computer Interaction and has specific expertise in designing digital technologies for food and sustainability in everyday life. Adrian’s work investigates the impacts of digital technologies on everyday life, and explores issues of participation and sustainability in current trajectories and future visions of smart technologies and cities. Adrian is expert in design and development of digital interventions, as well as qualitative methods of enquiry and analysis for understanding everyday life and its impacts. He has received funding from Innovate UK, EPSRC, and BBSRC, including the ongoing T-GRAINS project (BB/S014292/1) – a 2-year collaborative interdisciplinary project that is investigating the role that regional food systems could play in promoting healthier and more sustainable food production and consumption practices. He currently supervises a PhD student and a post-doc investigating the design of new interactive visual tools for co-creating future food systems and practices.
