Members of the Healthy Living Lab presented evidence to the All Party Parliamentary Group (APPG) on Holiday Hunger.
PhD Student Emily Mann, who is supervised by Healthy Living Director Professor Greta Defeyter, has undertaken a mapping exercise to determine where holiday clubs are taking place throughout the UK in summer 2016.
Professor Defeyter said:
“This piece of research by Emilly Mann, a member of the Healthy Living Lab team is breaking new ground in an emerging area of academic study. Presenting the results of Emily’s research to the APPG on holiday hunger only adds to emphasise the importance of hard, evidence based data to demonstrate to those that set policy of what is actually happening in the real world.”
After presenting evidence to the APPG, PhD Student Emily Mann said:
“This is just the starting point of mapping where holiday club provision exists in the UK. The mapping exercise illustrates that there is significant provision taking place across the UK although there are notable gaps in provision.”
