Emily Mann is a PhD student within the Department of Psychology at Northumbria University. Working under the supervision of Professor Greta Defeyter and Dr Lucy Grimshaw, Emily is undertaking research which evaluates the impact of holiday provision on children and their families.
Prior to commencing her PhD in 2015, Emily gained valuable experience as a researcher working with children and families in both the academic and commercial sector. Her previous research roles include evaluating Children’s Centres across the UK, training young people to carry out their own social research projects and compiling qualitative research to assess the need for childcare provision in London.
Emily has recently graduated with a First Class degree in MSc Social Research Methods. As part of her degree, Emily undertook a research project to identify and measure food poverty and to explore the psychosocial factors affecting people living in food poverty.
