Dr Fiona Caple
Fiona Caple completed her BSc (Hons) degree in Applied Human Nutrition at Queen Margaret College, Edinburgh and, following a period as a research assistant in a microbiology lab, completed a PhD in Nutrition (on Interactions between sources of resistant starch, intestinal cancer and the immune system) at Newcastle University in 2001 under the supervision of Professor John Mathers.
This was followed by a postdoctoral research position at Lancaster University on the purification of DNA repair proteins and then a further research post at Newcastle University, studying dietary and genetic factors modulating DNA repair capacity.
Fiona is currently Director of Learning and Teaching in the Department of Applied Sciences in the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences at Northumbria University. She is also an External Examiner for Queen Margaret University.
