Research carried out by Professor Greta Defeyter and Professor Riccardo Russo set out to investigate the effect of breakfast consumption on the cognitive performance and mood of adolescents. Results showed that adolescents felt more alert, satiated and content following consumption of breakfast. Additionally, breakfast consumption was associated with improved cognitive performance across the school morning on some cognitive tasks.
